Regarding the procedure for outpatient surgery
Surgical Information
A thorough consultation regarding the planned surgery will take place during your preparatory appointment at our practice with one of our specialists. All necessary documents, including the surgical consent form to be signed, will be given to you to review at your leisure at home.
ANESTHESIS PREPARATION / PREMEDICATION
The pre-anesthesia consultation is conducted by one of our anesthesiologists prior to the operation at the Apollonia Kurpfalz Clinic in Ludwigshafen. The patient must schedule a separate pre-medication appointment there.

SURGERY DAY PROCEDURE

The appointment time will be arranged with you by telephone the day before the surgery.

Please bring all surgical documents you received with you to your surgery appointment.

Please bring a fitted sheet, a blanket, and open slippers to the operation.

Please come to the surgery fasting, unless otherwise agreed upon beforehand.

After the operation, you will spend some time in our recovery room until the anesthesia has worn off and you are ready to be discharged.

Further aftercare and follow-up appointments will be discussed with you before discharge and given to you in writing.

Any necessary prescriptions will also be given to you.

Please arrange for someone you know to pick you up. After the operation, you will generally not be allowed to drive for at least 24 hours.
REHABILI

A post-operative treatment plan with guidelines, e.g. for physiotherapy, will be given to you after the operation.

Subsequent physiotherapy or postoperative outpatient rehabilitation is available directly in-house as an independent department, MedVital (phone 06236-8020).

Further follow-up appointments for check-ups will be arranged on the day of surgery and given to you in writing.
